"I refuse to be influenced by the masters. Even though I greatly admire Dali, Picasso and the color and line of Dufy. I believe in mixing media as long as they have a similar base, such as rustoleum and oil paint or ink and gouache. Basically, I use two or three colors in a painting. At times though I must admit in having gone in the opposite direction by exploding my canvases with color. I create because my imagination needs a visual expression."

Koharig was born and raised in Cairo, Egypt of Armenian descent. She attended the Cairo-Zorian School of Art for several years. She studied under Ashod Zorian, the world renowned artist residing in Cairo, who studied with Braque and Picasso. Later she apprenticed under famed LaMartine in Montreal, Canada.

In 1968, Koharig's work was shown for the first time in America. Koharig lived for many years in Provence, where she continues to draw inspiration.  She has owned and operated her own studios in France, the Caribbean, California and Naples, Florida where she now lives. Her work is in the possession of private collectors worldwide.

Koharig's work, which represents a diversity of style and composition, is primarily abstract impressionism in vibrant color schemes. Human figures dominate most canvases in a fluidity of movement and freedom. Themes tend to focus on the human condition, the struggles of life and the process of breaking free with unrestrained energy.
